The first burn is the most important.
It will allow you to get the most out of the life of the candle. Light the candle long enough for the top layer of wax to melt completely, otherwise a "wax ring" will form. Trim the wick after each use. Burn the candle for up to 3 hours at a time.

Stop using the candle when there is 1.5 cm of wax left at the bottom of the jar.
